Will my friend feel loopy right after he gets veneers? . . .or just pain and irratable?

My friend is getting the first step of veneers tomorrow . . .the first set . . not the final veneers. I want to take him to see a movie a few hours afterwards. Do you think he'll be ok to do that? Will he be in pain the whole day?
