Dentist won't let me cap my teeth, should I get a second opinion?

I'm 19, but I've damaged a few teeth due to grinding. Besides that, I've never had a cavity or any other issues with my teeth. I really want to get one of my canine teeth capped, but she told me that I'm too young and that my teeth are healthy. She doesn't want me to get veneers or lumineers either, she says that I'll pop it off grinding during sleep. This doesn't make sense to me, when I'm buying a 400 dollar nightguard from her. Should I go to another dentist? She wouldn't even file down a small chip on my front tooth.
